ARIC Excellence in Export Awards 2008: the Results are In!Monday, 21 Jul 2008 The ARIC Excellence in Rail Export Awards are presented to companies that have achieved notable export success (either contract signed or project completed) in a given financial year. Each entry is evaluated with reference to the following five criteria:
Judging is based solely on the submitted application received. The judging panel comprises representatives of the ARIC Board. In addition, there is also a special ARIC Chairman's Award. This award is given to an ARIC Member in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the ARIC membership and individual activities. This year no suitable applications were received from Category A companies due to their focus on the high level of domestic activity. The Category B award is for companies with rail revenue between 10 million and 50 million dollars. This award is proudly sponsored by Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (EFIC). This year it was won by Sigma Coachair Group for their work in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom - work that included cooperation with other ARIC Members. The award for Category C is sponsored by Austrade. The Category C field - for companies with a turnover up to $10 million - had a number of strong contenders making for a difficult decision. This year Sydac won the award for their work with Arriva Trains in Wales where they beat off strong European competition to win the project based on their service reputation and technical expertise. Sydac have also worked withother ARIC Members to develop further export opportunities. In recognition of the strength of the applications for the Category C award this year, it was decided to make a second award for a Highly Commended Category C. This was sponsored by Track & Signal magazine and was won by TTG Transportation Technology for their Freightmiser system project in India. The Chairman's Award for 2008 was given to Bill Killinger for his immense commitment and enthusiasm to developing rail business - both in Australia and internationally - and in supporting the Australian Railway industry manufacturers and suppliers. Not surprisingly, on the night Bill was overseas chasing more business and the award was accepted by Rob Boulger on his behalf. Congratulations to all the winners and our thanks to our Sponsors: EFIC, Austrade and Track & Signal magazine. Make sure you get your application in for next year's 2009 ARIC Excellence in Export Awards! |
